Excellency,

The undersigned Indigenous organization would like to inform and request the following from the delegations participating in the 24th Special Session of the General Assembly:

a) Our organizations participated at the Conference at Copenhagen (Social Summit) and inter preparatory activited leading up to this event;

b)  Our organizations congratulate the Conference and its results, in particular the content in the following: Principales and Objetives, paragraphs 25 and 26 (26m); Commitment paragraph 6 (6g); and Program of Action paragraphs 19, 31 (31f), 35 (35g), 61, 67, 74 (74h), and 75 (75d;

c)  It is clear to us that the matters listed above, at least up to the  present, have not progressed nor have they been implemented;

d) Our organizations are profoundly concerned about about the continuing ethnocide, destruction of natural habitat and theft of Indigenous lands, and the continuing violations of our political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights;

e) In this 24th Special Session of the General Assembly our organizations suport without reservation the content of paragraphs 21bis and 21ter of document A/S-24/2/Add. 2 (part III),

f)  Our organizations urgently request that the United Nations General Assembly's Final Document for the 24th Special   Sessions, include, inter alis: i) a reaffirmation of the commitments expressed in the Copenhagen Conference, with respect to Indigenous Peoples, ii) assuarences of the full exercise and enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms by Indigenous Peoples, their organizations and communities; iii) a call to governments and subsidiary bodies and agencies of the United Nations system to make efforts to realize significant normative and programmatic progress during the remainder of the  Decade of Indigenous Peoples.
